I own two Britax Frontiers in Pink, and the Graco Nautilus in pink as well. As a Mother who owns both models, I will tell you the significant differences among these two seats from my point of view.
1 Frontier is extra high priced (which is why I got the Nautilus for my spare)
2 Frontier is SO substantially easier to adjust the shoulder height strap. With a basic squeeze of a lever, the straps go up. The Graco requires to be rethreaded. This is Big pain when you have a further youngster who desires to use the seat. With the Frontier, it is no biggie to pull the lever.
3 Frontier seat material is prone to put on where the child's bottom and legs rub on the seat. It also shows WAY a lot more stains and soaks up spills quicker than the Graco.
four Frontier has 3 crotch strap adjustments for effortless fitting. The Graco only has 2 which tends to make the older children sit on the strap. This can get uncomfortable. My oldest DD takes the pad off of the crotch strap on the Frontier (she says it makes the seat look like a "baby seat" with the pad), but she can not do this with the Graco, as the crotch strap rubs on her legs causing red irritation when wearing shorts. The graco pad is highly thick and wraps the entire strap (between the legs) and then goes up to sit on the belly. She does not seem to mind sitting on it, but it does not appear too comfortable to me.
5 Padding on Frontier is WAY thicker (on each seat and seat back)and even more comfortable to sit on. I cannot picture that the Graco would be comfy for extended trips.
6 Heads slump forward for younger children when sleeping in the Graco. The "wings" about the head are incredibly fat (giving the appearance of a "yonger child's seat") and are so close to the child's head that it causes it to go forward when sleeping. The frontier has wider "wings" and are excellent for sleeping young children. The "wings" are farther away from the head and are angled just proper as to permit sleeping and seeking out the window. The "wings" are thinner and have a great deal more of a "large" kid appear. This thinner look in NO WAY implies that Graco is safer for the thicker "wings", as Britax states that its wings are "correct side impact protection". Graco does not state this. The plastic about wings appear to be of stronger material on the Frontier, even although they are thinner. Frontier also has the "hugs" system on the harness to reduce forward head movement. Graco does not.
7 The Graco has only a 12.5 inch seat width for the youngster to move about in. The Frontier has a 12.five seat area about the tush, but opens to a spacious 17 inch wide seat. This may possibly not be an issue for the younger kids, but the older ones require alot more space. This might, but, be an problem for smaller automobiles.
8 Cup holder and "hidden" storage are neat in the Graco. The Frontier has 2 cup holders, but they can not each be out, as a single hits the door when installed on far proper or left. The cup holders also do not go smoothly in and out when installed in the automobile, as the seat blocks the cup holder from retracting. This does not take place when the seat is not snugged down, but when installed..... This is not too significantly of an problem as we just leave them out. This is only an issue when I have a third youngster trying to walk to the back 3rd row amongst two Frontiers with cup holders out!
Bottom line. If you need to have a vehicle seat around the time that Britax has a sale, I would get it more than the Graco. The cost distinction at that time would only be $50. I feel that your big children will be happier in the Frontier. If you have a smaller child, don't forget, he/she will be a huge kid soon!
So I did a LOT of reseach before buying this, study multiple message boards, then to the retailer to look at them, and so on. This replaced a britax that was passed down to DD two for my rather sizeable four yo girl(40lbs, 40inches)I want to preserve her harnessed for as long as I can. I finally decided to go for it b/c of
1)value (although it definitely wasn't an object) but I am a huge fan of bang for your buck,
two)sturdiness, i was by no means a fan of graco until i purchased this seat. It is got a good weight, sturdy frame.
three)comfort, memory foam! DD loves it, she sleeps really comfortably in it without having slumping over like she put to use to.
4)size, not gigantic like the regent but sizeable it adequate to have a massive kid sit in it
I was concerned about its looks but it's substantially far better searching in individual.
Finally, who can beat amazon's price!
I extremely advise it, I think it will last my DD till she's prob 7-8 yo (My common sized 8yo nephew fits!)
